The hardest part for any marketer is to produce effective analytics that distinctively showcase the success of their efforts. Google analytics has done a great job in helping this more and more, particularly in the digital realm. But what about traditional advertisements such as billboards, radio and TV commercials that are still effective forms of marketing. How do you monitor these efforts and understand if they are producing a positive ROI? Well, this is where your VoIP phone system can come into play.
First off lets point out a few things. VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol and is the way in which to take analog audio signals and turn them into digital data that can be transmitted over a private network utilizing least cost routing and ease of administration. The second part you will need to know is what a DID is. DID stands for Direct Inward Dialing, these are individual phone numbers for each person or department within a company. Yet, it does not require a physical line for each phone number. These DID numbers are what’s going to help monitor your marketing tactics.
By using a distinct DID, you can tag particular advertisements and monitor if they are the one getting the phone to ring. For example, you have a car dealership and you have just placed your first TV commercial to air for your “Deal of the Month”. This is your first attempt and your marketing budget is tight. This means you need to make sure that this TV spot is worth the investment. By putting a specific DID as your “Call Now” number, you can track how many phone calls are being produced by that TV spot as well as if they are converting. This is because this phone number is solely attached to this DID and the only way to get this number is from that TV commercial. Now you can analytically monitor the results of your TV Commercial, without having to ask each individual caller where they learned about your “Deal of the Month”.
This same concept can then be used for all your various forms of advertising that showcase a “Call Now” or “Call For More Information” phone number. By just being a bit creative you can now create more value to your already beneficial VoIP phone system.
