At LIGHTFAIR international 2014, GE Lighting and ByteLight announced their new product Storify, an indoor LED location solution for retailers. This smart device allows retailers to engage with shoppers via their smart phone in accordance to their location in the store. Simply, you are able to give shoppers the same information they would find online while they are walking throughout your store.
This solution combines smart LED light technology with digital marketing platforms to deliver personalized content in regards to your shoppers location, identity and purchase history. For example, a loyal customer of your electronic store who just purchased a new TV has entered your store. Once they walk through the front door you can send them a message such as “Hi John welcome back, I hope you are enjoying your new 50 inch Phillips LED TV”. Then say they make their way to the DVD section. Your lights of that particular sector will register it and notify you. You could now send another message such as “Looking for a movie to watch on your new TV John? Try out Braveheart.”
This new technology is going to give a whole new meaning to in store marketing because now you can engage with customers from their most trusted possession, their phone.
