Business communication has come a long way over the years. Communication is so fluid today, it’s almost as if there is no distance between those communicating. With video conferencing, internet everywhere you go, and the technology to fill the gaps. We could look around and wonder “where else is there for business communications to go”. But nothing is perfect and there are still problems with the way businesses communicate.

A common problem many busy people run into, is the loss of internet connection in rural areas. You’d think with internet everywhere you go in the city, a stroll into the country wouldn’t make a difference. Sadly, it does. According to Pew research, 47 million people still lack a connection to the internet. Taking those who don’t believe in the use of certain technologies. We as a country still must acknowledge that a great part of our citizens are still without internet. We have to consider age though. Older people tend to stay away from the use of the internet. Expecting it to be complicated and difficult to work with. We also have the problem of low income families unable to afford an internet connection or computer. And after all this, there is also a large portion of Americans who are not interested in going online. Something that seems vital for us to make a living, some are able to live without completely.

Believe it or not, artificial intelligence is something the country asks for today. We’re given samples like Siri, but nothing is a true intelligent communication able bot. People want someone or something to communicate with, to learn and have conversations with. This is something we can see coming in the future with business technology, but is slow approaching with many faults. We want something to help aid us in life, like another person to walk through difficulties with. To mock the human brain capacity would take a lot of computing power, and getting all the power together would cost millions of dollars. Impossible for most to receive unless wealth is out of the question. In that case I don’t think having a computer to keep you company would be on the top of your list. Another problem would be space. Something that takes up that much computing power, would take up a lot of space. Absolutely defeating the use of it being mobile, and only being available for a select few who have the space. All in all, it is achievable, and we hope technology can bridge the gap between costs and cumbersome computers.

Obviously there are still many improvements for technology to make. And as those improvements are made, businesses will be among the first to reap those benefits.
