They will not only use fireworks, but will also incorporate a laser and lightshow that will illuminate the Arabian night sky. In fact, the spectacle will feature brilliant LED lighting that will cover the half-mile high Burj Khalifa tower, the world’s tallest building.
It will be exciting to see just how versatile LED lighting can be. Aside from being eco friendly, energy efficient, as well as cost efficient, LED lighting can also be used for high quality entertainment. Just how versatile can these lights be? Well, it is said that the first segment of Dubai’s light show will set the tone with a gold and silver strobe light performance. Next, colorful lights and volcanic waves will reflect off the tower’s reflective mirror-like windows. Then, a calm twinkling performance will emulate the brilliant constellations from the night sky. Finally, a myriad of colorful light sequins will serve as the foreground, as fireworks burst in the background. The LED light show will also be programmed to pulse on beat to various songs that will play throughout the celebration.
Halfway across the world on a much more familiar front, the world renowned New York’s Time Square will also be bringing in 2015 in a spectacular way. The famous New Year’s Ball, the focal point of the entire celebration, will be covered in over 32,000 LED lights that have the ability to display 16 million different combinations of patterns and colors!
It will not only be a sight to see for the millions of viewers around the world, but also the technicians and planners that have been working on the ball all year, for the patterns aren’t preprogrammed, so no one know for sure what the ball will look like at the stroke of midnight.
So as the ball drops 120 feet at 11:59 on December 31st , thus marking the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, it will sure to dazzle spectators and leave everyone in awe as they ring the New Year.
