Ruckus Wireless announced on September 8th, 2014 their newest smart Wi-Fi mobile application, the Ruckus Smart Wireless Installation and Provisioning Engine or SWIPE. This new mobile application is to help IT personnel with installing and configuring Ruckus ZoneFlex access points (APs) quickly and efficiently utilizing mobile devices.
SWIPE allows system integrators and carriers/service providers the ability to register Ruckus APs deployed on their Wi-Fi networks onto centralized management systems such as the Ruckus SmartCell Gateway 200 or the Ruckus Virtual Smartcell Gateway. SWIPE delivers updates to these centralized management systems with data about the AP such as, location specific details (pictures, locations) and validates AP connectivity. SWIPE is also able to search for APs by name as well as by proximity and error condition.
This new mobile application makes it easier to remotely manage and troubleshoot APs by reducing errors in configuration and log updates, easily locating them and navigating APs in the field via GPS applications, and sorting problem APs by severity and proximity. SWIPE is also able to test the performance of APs, store the data and have reports emailed or printed for later review.
SWIPE is the newest mobile management application brought to you in a suite of Ruckus mobile tools. It is available free of charge on the Apple iPad and iPhone through the Apple iTunes App store.
