LED lighting has grown at an explosive rate over the past few years. All kinds of businesses have chosen to install LED lighting in their facilities in place of the traditional fluorescent lights. This is due to the benefits that LED provides over its counterpart. These benefits include cost-savings, quality of lighting and security.

Let’s dive a bit into why LED takes the cake over fluorescent.

One hurdle that always seems to find itself in the path of LED lighting, is the debate of whether or not it actually saves you money. After businesses pay the initial installation bill for LED lighting, they begin to wonder, “Was it really worth it?” We will be honest, LED lighting is not the cheapest option. If upfront costs is all you care about, go with fluorescent.  What it really all boils down to is how you use your lighting. LED lights are meant to consume less energy and last longer compared to fluorescent lighting. In order for this to actually be effective, you have to use the lighting often. If you pay $20 compared to the $1 you’d spend on the fluorescent bulb, you’re immediately on the bottom end of the deal. But if you plan to consistently use your lighting over many years, one LED light bulb (50,000 hours to 100,000 hours) will outlast multiple fluorescent bulbs. This means the more lighting you use, the quicker you will see your return.  More on this here.

Fluorescent lighting is also notorious for causing anxiety, headaches, eye straining, and difficulty relaxing. This is a big problem for businesses. You want your employees to feel relaxed and comfortable. If your lighting is causing them stress, then you want to change it quickly. LED lighting is a much higher quality of light and has shown to diminish these issues among employees. Remember a happy employee is a productive employee.

The last aspect of LED lighting to showcase is security. LED lighting covers a larger area than fluorescent. This means less dark/blind spots where injuries and theft could occur. This also leads back into the notion of keeping your employees happy. By providing a safer work environment, you’re able to help your employees relax and less concerned with personal safety.

There are many advantages that LED lighting brings to the table, but as most upgrades around the office go, it all depends on the characteristics of the business. But if you are experiencing these issues, LED lighting could be the answer. Learn more about LED Lighting by clicking here.
